Elko

Elko is the county seat and the working heart of northeastern Nevada, founded in 1868 as a Central Pacific Railroad stop and still proud of its cow-town roots. Today it anchors the Carlin Trend gold economy, hosts the National Cowboy Poetry Gathering at the Western Folklife Center, and throws the National Basque Festival every summer.

Housing runs from historic blocks near the courthouse to newer subdivisions climbing the hills, with Great Basin College, Elko Regional Airport, and a full hospital keeping the town self-sufficient. Mining wages support strong buying power, and rotation schedules make closing timelines matter.

Practical texture: mining-economy underwriting is a specialty here.
